MY LIFE TICKET

A ROAD TRIP TO MY GOALS

We only have one ticket, where should we go? How everything started.
A little about me.

We only have one ticket, where should we go? How everything started.

Holi! (My way of saying hola and hi in the same word). How are you, guys!?
My name is Fernanda and I am from Durango, México. I have a passion for traveling, road trips, discover what’s around me and yep, that includes food too. But how did everything started?

Destiny…

Well, I was in high school watching a movie during a class (the teacher actually wanted us to watch a movie, it’s not like I was on my phone watching a movie during class, just to clarify. I’m not that rebel, you guys) when I see this pink and white folder with the words ”Au Pair” in it. I got curious and I asked my classmate the meaning of it. She then told me about it, a cultural exchange program where you work for a family and get the chance to study in the US. My eyes went BIG. I was already dreaming of experiencing the places, the traditions and the way of living that I always saw in American movies.

Always trust your gut…

After talking to myself a lot I decided it was best to go to college first and then to the US. (Ah! Little did I knew, keep reading to find out). I went to another city in México to study. I got there and I don’t really know why but I decided to leave after a month, I felt so out of place. Like, you know when you are new in a place but excited for the adventure? Never felt that there, I packed my stuff and went back home.

My first adventure…

At home, looking for my next step, I found out about this awesome course in México City. I decided to go and live there for 8 months. I went to a bunch of places and I had the opportunity to know a little more about my culture. It was amazing and delicious! While in there I saw a picture of my classmate in her Au Pair adventure and it reminded me of my desire to go and experience it too. I graduated from my course and went back home.

The decision that changed my life…

I arrived to my city on July 2014, filled out the paperwork with the Au Pair agency and in September of 2014 I was getting out of a plane in the US. Ready for this adventure. I could feel it in my body, I was extremely excited! I knew, that was where I was supposed to be.

New York City, baby!

After almost two awesome years of traveling, hard work, studies and lessons that shaped me to become the little me I am today… I found love. A month before going home. Can you believe it? What a luck! Huh? And I mean it in a bad way because, dude, I was in the country for almost two years and I never saw this guy, even though, he worked 5 minutes away from me.

Anyway, we decided to try long distance. I guess it was a good decision because after almost three years, we are still together. We go on little road trips, we love to experience new restaurants, new places and new activities. I guess it was good luck after all!

And now we are here!

So, because I love traveling and adventures, why not sharing what I know? Because whenever my friends need tips or suggestions for places to visit, I am always the first one to jump and tell them everything they need to know. So, I thought I should share what I’ve learned about traveling, tips I’ve gathered & the places I’ve been, just in case you are ever in need of a little hand… *lends her little hand*. Let’s all pack our goals in our suitcase and go!

A little about my story so you can get to know me better. Let’s inspire each other. Tell me about you!
