Here, you can find the best things to do during Fall in New England. This way you can have an iconic season with friends and family! A variety of scary, creativity, sweet and fun comes along in this awesome list of activities.
Needless to say, it’s my favorite season ever. The color of the leaves, the weather not hot/not cold, the haunted rides, corn mazes, pumpkin picking, the pies… Oh God… THE PIES. I just eat and enjoy the views, maybe that’s why it’s my favorite season🍁🍂🥧🎃😂
Plus, I feel everything smells like pumpkin spice. Maybe is my hunger? I don’t know, either way, I love it😂
So, let’s get started, sha’ll we?
I will recommend you the places I’ve been in the past and the places I will go for the first time this year (which I am so excited for!). We will actually be discovering new places at the same time and that is pretty cool, right!?
If you have any questions about anything, you can email me or leave a comment! I will gladly respond to you.
When it comes to pumpkin picking you can do it two ways:
Go straight to pick up the pumpkin or take a hayride to the pumpkin field.
I personally like the whole experience with the ride but just in case you just want to go pick up your pumpkin, I will leave here my two options!
You can pick up your pumpkins in this beautiful farm! Located at 451 Sport Hill Rd, Easton, Connecticut. They have such a beautiful set up for you to pick up your pumpkins and a large field of pumpkins next to it too. Their Fall Fest starts in October, they will have pumpkins by the end of September / beginning of October.
TIP: You GOT to try their famous cider donuts, fresh apple cider and pies. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S.
They may not take you on the hayride to pick up pumpkins but they take you on the hayride to pick up apples if you purchase that option. You can check their website here if you want to know more and here is the apple chart so you can check what apples you can pick out :).
There are a lot of activities for kiddos, so maybe you can bring your nieces, nephews, daughters, grandchildren, siblings, etc. and enjoy a fun day doing these activities. They do have a zoo so that is another cool way to spend the day! Here is the page if you would like to know more.
Located at 483 Matson Hill Rd, South Glastonbury, Connecticut, in this amazing farm they take you on a hayride to pick up your pumpkins and whatever other produce is available. They say they will have pumpkins by mid September, so close! To see what produce they may have this time of the year, click here.
TIP: Try their famous apple cider donuts and their famous apple fritters. YUMM!
What I loved about this farm was the fact that you get to wait in line for the right hayride. Some hayrides will arrive that will take you directly to pick up different apples, produce or pumpkins, etc. Which I thought it was super cute and fun to see what the driver will say- this way you can hop on or hop not!
Carve A Pumpkin
Once you have your pumpkins… is time to carve them!
I will leave some links with some crazy and simple but awesome designs for pumpkins. Here are mine from last year. Can you guess which one is Dani’s and which one is mine? Haha.

Go On A Haunted Hayride
This experience was amazing, amazing, amazing! Because everything was so much fun and SO scary. We went to the Monster Mash Scream Park at McCray’s Farm located at 55 Alvord St, South Hadley, MA. They will take you in the haunted hayride for over 40 acres full of terror, plus some awesome haunted houses, Massacre Manor and the DON, and all of that included in the same ticket! And every year they add more scary stuff!
It starts at 7pm but I suggest to arrive at least an hour earlier. With this said, you can imagine how many people come every weekend from September 27th to October 27th. For more info about dates and price click here, to buy the tickets click here or if you would like, you can buy them once you get there.
This tradition has been going on since 1991, you can see they are a pro at doing this. Plus, they have something for everyone, The Munchkin Mash Kiddie Hayride is open from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm.
TIP: Try their hot coco while you wait in line! They have a variety of things to eat while you wait in line… oh, and a little surprise too.
Visit A Corn Maze
We went to Meadow View Farms located at 120 College Highway, Southwick, MA with the idea of taking a hayride to pick up some pumpkins, but it was a little more for kids than anything. So, this is a cute idea for kiddos to have an awesome time!
While feeling defeated in our dreams to go on a hayride, we saw they had a corn maze with a little mission for you to accomplish if you decided to try it, even though it was for kids, we decided to try it and honestly, we had an awesome and fun time! So this activity is for you to connect with your inner kid!
You can go through the maze without playing the game too. They will open their corn maze September 21st.
TIP: They have an amazing view, look around, you will fall in love.
Halloween Movie Night
Fall is not fall without a little jump of scare. With this said, go and check out your nearest movie theater! There are always a bunch of scary movies playing during this time of the year. And I think is a little better being a in a big dark room with a lot of people celebrating Halloween the same way.
In case you don’t want to go out, you can always rely on the cable this time of the year or even better, Netflix! So take out the popcorns, bring the candy and enjoy a scare night in.
Here is a link for you to see the streaming list in movie theaters, Netflix, Amazon, etc.
Go To A Haunted House
DementedFX is located at 530 Main Street Holyoke, MA, it’s a 25+ min experience and people recommend to arrive an hour earlier at least. It opens at 6:00pm but the fun starts at 6:30pm, there are bars, music videos and food carts to make the waiting line more pleasable for you.
It starts September 27th, to see the dates and schedule, click here and to check the ticket options they give, go here. I suggest to watch the video before buying your tickets, it has important information.
This is one of the places I told you guys I will go to for the first time this Fall, and I am honestly SO excited! I read a ton of reviews and apparently this is one of the best (if not THE best) haunted house in Massachusetts.
TIP: This year they are at The Big E.
They have this thing called ”Meat Tank” so why not having this experience also? Click here for more info.
The Big E is an amazing and big and amazing and big AND amazing fair located at Eastern States Exposition, 1305 Memorial Ave, West Springfield, MA. They will be open from September 13th to September 29th. If you want more info about hours, tickets, parking, etc. click here. You can buy your tickets here or you can buy them once you get there.
There is literally something for everyone here, concerts, events, rides, games, expositions, tons of food trucks, you can shop from decorations to even jacuzzis, I mean, the list goes on and on. Here is a list of al the events they will have.
One of the things I like the most is their Avenue of States where you can enter each New England state’s original statehouse replicas, you get to know their history and try famous dishes, famous restaurants, candy, etc. It gives this vibe of having been in all of the six states in only one weekend, and I really love that feeling.
TIP: People tend to offer their streets spaces, backyards or garages as parking. They will charge also. This is a good option too, we prefer it.
the big e top things to do in fall
Berlin Fair is located at 430 Beckley Road, East Berlin, CT. It will open doors from September 13th to September 15th. Want to know more about their hours and tickets? Click here or you can buy them once you arrive. They also have a parking lot and a shuttle service.
I love this fair because it has more of a cozy vibe, because everyone here knows each other so people go and support their friends and family on contests, shows, etc.
Even though is a town fair, it’s HUGE and you can do so many activities. You can shop, enjoy a concert, go on rides, play games, eat, watch a contest… so many things! Here is the link of the schedule.

And if you want a little more Halloween than Fall this Fall, I have the perfect thing for ya! The Six Flags Fright Fest! We enjoyed so much coming here because it was so scary, so entertaining and we had so much fun! They are PRO at what they do.
Six Flags is located at Route 159, 1623 Main St., Agawam, MA. This will be from September 21st to October 27th. For more information about tickets, haunted attractions, scare zones, rides, shows, etc. click here.
TIP: Be aware of where you walk. You are not alone.
the big e top things to do in fall
I will go to this one this year! This is a tradition they make every single year. And it’s famous for the 20,000 carved pumpkins on a 34 foot tower… I MEAN. 20,000!? 34 FOOT TOWER!? That is something we can’t miss, right? It has rides, vendors, music and more.
It’s located at Downtown Laconia, Laconia, NH. These are the times and dates: October 18th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and October 19th from noon to 8:00pm. I assume you can buy your tickets there, when I was going through their pages they didn’t give any options to buy them online.
Here is the link for their website and for their Facebook page.
And the last but not least! The Great Jack O’ Lantern event is a crazy display of 7,000 and more illuminated hand carved pumpkins! Plus, there is synchronized lighting and music so it is a really complete experience that you can not miss. Will be open these dates:
This place is located at:
Van Cortlandt Manor
525 S Riverside, Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
To buy tickets, click here and for more info, click here.
I went to the one in Croton-On-Hudson, NY the first time and I was going to recommend you only that one but then I found out there is one in Rhode Island and another in Massachusetts but sadly the one in MA won’t open this year. So I will leave the link of the one in RI, just in case it’s closer to you.
